Santosha: Finding Contentment in Motherhood
Initially, this title, at least to me seems silly; contentment in Motherhood? Being a Mother has given me so much contentment in my heart and soul. It is the greatest gift and most wonderful pleasure to raise a child and journey through life with them.
The hard part of finding contentment is all the other shit that gets in the way. Am I right? You know, like work, other relationships, bills, societal pressures, to do lists.
This is the hard stuff, managing day to day and finding inner contentment along the way.
We need to let ourselves off the hook, and let other Moms off the hook too. I mean let's drop a few stupid expectations that have been ingrained in us....
1. You must be perfect: Perfect life, perfect house, perfect car, perfect clothes, perfect body, perfect relationship, perfect kids.....I am getting bloody tired just listing it all.
I AM GOING TO LET YOU IN ON A SECRET.....YOU ALREADY ARE IMPERFECT PERFECTION, EXACTLY AS YOU ARE AND IT IS AMAZING!!
The expectations of the Mothers today is unrealistic...I am going to say it again....EXPECTATIONS OF MOTHERS TODAY ARE UNREALISTIC.
There is no human in their right mind that can attain the following, amazing career, happy kids, perfect body, enough money, happy marriage, all at one time. Especially, in our day and age. We have very little support and Mothers are expected to work like a woman without children and act like a Mother without a career. And then we shamefully judge one another.....This to me is absurd. We must ban together. We must empower one another to only do that which we are capable of doing and take time for ourselves. We need to add NO back into our vocabulary. This is hard to do, so hard in fact, that a lot of us just don't do it. Mamas....we need to rise up and empower one another to take a goddamn break. We deserve i!. You deserve it!
Hot Mess Mom's Club starts Monday, we will be featuring one Mom a week rocking life on her own terms and getting messy along the way. This club is designed to empower Moms to see that life isn't perfect, it is in the imperfection where magic happens. PEACE SISTERS! #contentmentcrusher
